In the Old Testament, God would rise up individuals and empower them to do His will. The spirit would come on people and then leave. When God sent the Holy Spirit to the early church, it wasn’t temporary or limited to a select group of believers. The Holy Spirit empowered each Christian to do God’s will through the spiritual gifts each had been given.
God designed us for community, and to function together through our individual strengths and giftedness. This allows us to have endurance through ministry’s ups and downs through encouragement, accountability, and discipleship. However often in churches the full gifts of the congregation are not being utilized.
The divide can create issues on both sides. The people working diligently can become fatigued and weary, while the ones not can become disconnected from the community and lack spiritual maturity. Have you experienced this in your own church or ministry? We would love to pray with you, and come beside you to see the whole body of your ministry working towards God’s glory.
