Kingdom Growth foundation has supported Rockdale Baptist Church as they begin a new men’s discipleship ministry. They have had over 70 commit to finding one man in their life to walk beside and disciple one on one. They are not just focusing on introducing them to Christ, although important, but empowering them as they begin their walk to live out their lives following Christ’s command to go and make disciples. They met on May 29th to lay the groundwork and provide the tools and support for each of these men.
When someone comes to faith and starts that relationship with God we celebrate and rejoice with them, rightfully so. Many times though, they are then abandoned to navigate this new faith by themselves. We don’t celebrate the birth of a newborn and then immediately send them out to live on their own and figure out life. From birth, we nurture and guide the child as they develop and grow until one day they’re ready to face the world on their own. Rockdale’s Baptist’s men’s ministry is working to change that. They are focusing on creating intentional connections with the goal of not just bringing another man to Christ, but to create a new disciple.
Discipleship is crucial to healthy kingdom growth. We can have all the best facilities, activities, messages, and music, but if we never engage our community outside of the church walls we will become stagnant. We are encourage by Rockdale Baptist’s focus on discipleship, developing a deeper relationship with God after the initial conversion, and recognizing our responsibilities as believers.
We pray that God would bless Rockdale’s efforts to bring in new believers and disciple them to be able to go and multiply God’s kingdom. We pray that each man would be able to connect with the right partner God has already prepared for them.
