Throughout the Old Testament we find various names or Title for God. These names were not human attempts to describe or characterize Him. Names were a means of self-revelation, given so that humanity could experience a personal and intimate relationship with the Creator. The Psalmist declared, “And this who know Your name will put their trust in You, /For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You”(Ps. 9:10)

We are commanded to honor God’s name; but to do that adequately, we must understand the inherent greatness of the names God uses to refer to Himself. As you study each name you will yourself drawn to Him and passionately committed to Him. You will know His lovely character and trust Him to act in your life accordingly. You will find yourself joyously shouting His names in praise or whispering them in quiet petition.
